Jaguar XK150 Restoration

This is one of our favourite restorations we have ever done. It shows the capability of our fantastic team and what can be achieved when we all pull together.

” What did we not do to this car” Everything had to be done. The shell had to be made and tapped out of steel. All the component’s had to be kept and catalogued so we either had to restore or buy new parts that had perished.

The chassis was the only part of the car that was in very good condition. However, it had to be shot blasted, epoxied, and coated with anti-rust protection.

The car panels had to be aligned first and we had to prefit components such as lights, bumpers and doors before it could go into the paint booth and be epoxied.

Once the body had received its rust protection coat it was time to start the very long job of flatting, sanding and finally painting the car. This also leads to many hours of flatting and polishing the paint.

Whilst the body was being worked on the engine could be taken apart. The engine block is fantastic, it is almost indestructible. The pistons and all associated components had to be replaced. The head was skimmed, and a topcoat of paint was applied to the head in the correct colour blue.

Our client decided on a beautiful shade of grey for the shell, with a red hood and a red leather interior. As you can see from the photos the hood is very complex and made of several layers of cloth and wadding. The outside layer was finished in a red mohair cloth.

Every person from the administrative team to the leather man played a very important roll in this very complex restoration. A fabulous classic car restoration carried out in Yorkshire.

No part of the car was wasted as we used the back of the car to make a coffee machine centre point. We also painted one side to show what was possible.
