Jaguar series 2 Restoration 2 plus 2
This was an extremely interesting project to do at Classic Car lab based in Yorkshire. The restoration of this Series 2 jaguar 2 plus 2 hard top was to
work out how to stop water ingress through the front and rear side windows due to the car not being lined up correctly.
This was a very big puzzle to us as we had not experienced anything like this before.
After asking the client a few more questions we inspected the areas by taking out the windows and we found that there was some red overspray on the rubbers.
On further questioning the client had taken the car to a body shop 18 months ago and when the body shop was profiling the car, they did it incorrectly. Hence the small gap in the aperture, causing water to seep through.
Once we established this, we were able to re-profile the windows to fit the car, and we resprayed the top half of the car blending the paint in to the other panels.
A fascinating job to do. You may ask yourself why the client didn’t take back the car to the body shop where they had got it done in the first place. The answer was it had run out of warranty, despite it not being done correctly in the first place. Always seek out a reputable classic car restoration company with lots of expertise as it pays dividends in the long run.
