Revive the Timeless Beauty

Breathing new life into Motoring Legends, whatever the make or model

At Classic Car Lab, we specialise in meticulously restoring classic cars, bringing these motoring legends back to their original glory. Our team of skilled artisan technicians, with years of experience and a passion for their craft, takes pride in every project we undertake. From the moment your cherished vehicle arrives at our superb workshop facility, we embark on a journey of reviving its timeless beauty, treating each restoration as a labour of love.

Comprehensive Restoration process. Full Restoration & Part Restorations

Our restoration process begins with a thorough assessment of the vehicle, taking into account its composition and condition.
All costs are agreed beforehand in writing. No work will take place that has not been agreed beforehand, giving you peace of mind and no surprise bills at the end.
We then strip the car down to its bare body, carefully bagging and tagging each component for safekeeping. This stage allows us to evaluate the critical path and establish goals for various stages of the restoration, ensuring transparency and client involvement throughout the process.

All our costing is transparent, our hourly rate is £80 plus VAT. We will work with you and help you remain within your budgeting needs.

Partial restorations that utilise any of our services are available for any make or model of car, including those that have suffered accident damage.

Preserving Authenticity and Enhancing Performance

With a full restoration approach, we aim to preserve as many original components as possible while replacing worn-out parts with high-quality alternatives. Our skilled technicians meticulously restore the engine, chassis, transmission, and other mechanical systems to their original specifications. We also offer a range of upgrades and enhancements, such as electronic ignition, improved alternators, performance modifications, and more, to enhance the driving experience and the car's value.

Exquisite Bodywork and Paint

Our dedicated team of painters and welders meticulously assess the bodywork, employing traditional techniques and modern technology to reshape and repair panels as needed. We strive to minimise the use of body filler by tapping out panels and employing lead filling where appropriate. Our modern paint booth ensures a beautiful, glass-like finish, with each layer of paint applied with precision and topped off with top-quality lacquer. The result is a stunning exterior that mirrors the car's original splendour.

Inspection and Assessment Services

Often when buying a car, you don’t know the full history and condition of a vehicle, or it could be that the vehicle has been stood for a length of time.
This is where our Inspection and Assessment service comes in. Your car will be put on a ramp and checked from front to back, inside, outside, and underneath. Paying attention to the engine compartment, electrical/controls, Interior, exterior bodywork, front suspension and steering, rear suspension and underframe, clutch/transmission, exhaust system, fuel system and brakes. We also offer a collection service should your car be unroadworthy or a non-starter.

This Inspection and Assessment service is charged at our hourly rate and can be between 2 and 4 hours. This enables us to break down the urgent work required to make your car safe and get it back on the road, as well as cosmetic and upgrades that the vehicle could benefit from. An estimate can be given, and we go through the findings and discuss budgets and stage payments.

Throughout the restoration process, we document the work done, capturing before-and-after photos and detailed notes. Car Restoration FAQ'S

We try to analyse each stage with the client to give them the best possible critical path. A full restoration can often take from 12 months to 24 months depending on the complexity of the project and the expectation of the client.

We work with the client and break the restoration down into stages, which helps with budgeting needs and the security of being happy before we move on to the next stage of the project

First, do an HPI check to make sure the car is original that it has not been involved in a major accident and there is here is no outstanding finance on the car.
A heritage certificate is useful at this point as you will need to check and verify engine body and chassis numbers.
You will need to consider the condition of the body, chassis, engine, and interior.
Do your research on how much cars have fetched or are fetching via the Internet and consider consulting the website Haggerty For more information click here.

However, saying that if money is no object and it’s a car that you’ve always wanted then it’s down to you. If you’re just buying a car for an investment, then we would advise that cars go up and down in price just like shares. It can be very difficult to predict what will happen in the classic car industry. However, if you look at past records cars seem to go up in value over the years especially if they are of a desirable make such as Aston Martin. A limited production run often plays a part in values too.

This type of restoration is the highest one available. It is often a dangerous word to use as on a judging scale it hits 100 points. Often cars that are used cannot be considered as having 100 points as the car must be pristine for example no exhaust dust in the exhaust pipes. Also, the car should never be driven so we tend to stay away from the word concours and say that our restorations are excellent.
We offer a full restoration which is our most popular as well as a partial restoration. We also offer a full nut and bolt restoration which is at the higher end of the scale of cost and time.

This is a very difficult question to answer as the bigger the job gets the more hours involved are needed to assess a vehicle, however, we are very happy to advise. Please call and ask for more details.

No we can restore any age of car. We do have a division that is called Sports Car Lab that specialises in Modern performance, sports, and luxury cars. We offer all the same services as we do for classic cars, so year make are not an issue.
