The first generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class was introduced at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show and the 2001 Bologna Motor Show, replacing the previous generation. The first generation underwent revisions in 2006 and 2008, and it was succeeded by the new SL-Class generation in 2011.

It’s quite busy down at the car lab, with a diverse range of vehicles coming in. We see everything from sports cars to small compact cars, and it’s not just general maintenance we handle; we also have several vehicles that require welding work.
Welding work
One example is the stunning Mercedes 500 SL. At first glance, it looks like a fantastic car, which it truly is. However, upon inspection, it becomes clear from the photos that the boot floor is completely rotten. Our skilled welder, Lee, expertly cut out the damaged area, cleaned it up, and welded a new piece in. The result was a remarkable job. I make it sound straightforward, but it’s far from easy. Accurate measurements must be taken, and all rusted areas need to be removed to prevent old rust from migrating onto new metal. This is where the welder’s expertise is crucial. I get quite excited about these tasks because we are preserving our customers’ pride and joy. Ultimately, it’s the customer who determines the quality of our work, and in this case, the customer was thrilled with the results.
