This particular Jaguar E-Type arrived at our Yorkshire classic car restoration workshop as an accident-damaged vehicle that had been standing unused for many years. The owner wanted to bring the car back to life properly and preserve it for future enjoyment rather than allowing such an important British classic to disappear.

Structural Restoration & Jaguar E-Type Safety Repairs

One of the most important aspects of this restoration involved the structural safety of the vehicle.

As part of the initial inspection, it became clear that sections of the E-Type’s front frame assembly — often referred to as the A-frame structure — required major attention. Years of standing combined with previous accident damage had compromised areas of the framework and one of the struts had also suffered impact damage.

The Jaguar E-Type front frame structure is absolutely critical because it effectively acts as the car’s safety cage and supports the engine, suspension and front-end geometry.

We always strongly recommend inspecting E-Type frames thoroughly during restoration work, as corrosion, fatigue or impact damage in these areas can have serious implications for both safety and drivability.

In this case, the safest and most appropriate solution was replacement rather than repair.

A new A-frame assembly was fitted to ensure the structural integrity of the vehicle was restored correctly and safely for long-term use.

Jaguar E-Type Body Restoration & Paintwork

The restoration also involved extensive bodywork and paint restoration throughout the vehicle.

The bonnet was replaced as part of the rebuild process and significant preparation work was carried out before the car entered the paint stage.

At our Yorkshire classic car paint and bodywork workshop, we undertake everything from bare-metal classic car resprays and structural restoration through to aluminium repairs, fabrication and concours paintwork for classic and modern classic vehicles.

Originally, this Jaguar E-Type had been finished in green, something clearly visible during the restoration process once sections of the structure and bodywork were exposed.

However, as the client requested the car be refinished in red, the restoration provided the perfect opportunity to repaint the replacement A-frame and associated structural sections correctly to match the final exterior finish.

The completed paintwork transformed the Jaguar beautifully.

Finished in classic red, the E-Type regained all the drama, elegance and presence that has made these cars legendary worldwide.

Engine Rebuilding & Mechanical Recommissioning

Mechanically, the Jaguar required substantial recommissioning and restoration work throughout.

The engine was carefully refurbished and inspected with particular focus placed on tolerances, reliability and overall performance.
