VW Golf GTI

After the success of the Beetle, VW were seeking to match their sales with another model.

They produced a masterpiece with this Golf Mark One GTI.

It first appeared in 1975 and it coined the term “hot hatch”. VW used a Bosch fuel injection system with a 1.6 litre engine.

We know this little car very well. We completed its restoration.

We love to have a car returning home and this is no exception.

The car drives extremely well and holds the road like it’s on a rail track.

All fluid levels were checked and topped up along with checking underneath for any oil leaks, none were evident. Exhaust checks, tyres and a general look over with an oil and filter change. There were no warning lights on the dashboard and everything else was in order.

It’s amazing how a small car can be so heavy without power steering. Even when taking out the spark plugs to check the colour of them they showed no signs of carbon deposits on them.

A fabulous little hot hatch.
