Lotus Esprit Service and General Maintenance

As you will read, we did a full restoration on this car and it’s so nice to see it coming back to us for servicing and general maintenance. But the good thing is that it keeps on coming back and that we keep servicing it.

On this occasion it was just a minor service, nothing complicated.

To check that all the fluid levels were correct was the first general observation that we made before we began the service.

A good look over the car to make sure that over the winter no salt had penetrated through any of the vulnerable areas.

We carried out what we consider to be similar to doing a MOT check. Brakes, pads and disc callipers were inspected. We made sure that the handbrake had the correct amount of tension on. Gearbox oil suspension and fluid lines were checked along with the all-important steering to make sure that the car was able to stop and drive in a straight line. No oil leaks were detected. The tyres were in great condition, and then it was a good check of the spark plugs. There were no electrical issues, which was very satisfying as it is a Lotus.
