BMW i3 General Maintenance

BMWi3.  Electric.

This may be a surprise entry into our Servicing category however, despite it having an electric motor the principles are very similar to a combustible car, in the sense that body work needed attention. The alloys needed attention as they had been curbed.

We had to check the seat belt restraint as one of them was not working correctly. We also changed the air filters on the car.

4 new tyres were needed which are very large and thin. In fact, they are a 20-inch tyre.

A smart repair was needed on the passenger side of this car which was very interesting to do as the majority of the car is made out of carbon fibre which is a very different technique to painting on steel or fibreglass. A water-based paint was used instead of oil based which many of the older vehicles have.

If I decided to look into a crystal ball and somebody were to ask me “what is the future of classic electric cars?” Then I would say that the BMW I3 is a fantastic possible future investment. Dare I say the first electric classic?
