Produced between 1961 and 1973 in various forms, the Volvo P1800 combined sporting looks with Volvo reliability and quickly developed a loyal following around the world.

Interestingly, early production of the P1800 involved collaboration with Jensen Motors in Britain, with approximately 10,000 cars originally planned under contract. However, due to production and quality difficulties, Jensen produced only around 6,000 vehicles before Volvo moved production to Sweden, renaming the car the P1800S — the “S” proudly standing for Sweden.

This particular red Volvo P1800 arrived at Classic Car Lab Yorkshire for sympathetic restoration, paintwork, servicing and mechanical recommissioning before becoming a truly unforgettable 40th birthday surprise.

The owner purchased the car as a gift for his wife, who remembered the P1800 from decades earlier when the car first captured her imagination many years ago. Wanting the vehicle to be both beautiful and dependable, he asked us to ensure the car was presented in top condition and ready to be enjoyed properly on the road.
