Rolls Royce Silver Spirit Restoration

This Rolls Royce belongs to a lovely client based in Demark. We not only get Classic car restorations from the UK but also Europe and further afield. This Rolls Royce needed a very light restoration. The colour is of its time and we had to tackle a few rusted areas which lead to the paint technician having to respray various areas of the Rolls Royce.  The technique used by a process of blending the paint in as it was not necessary to respray the whole car.

Fist we had to cut out the rust panels. The welder carefully welded new panels on and then we epoxied them to give a greater resistance to the elements. Once it was dry the primer was sprayed on and the paint and laquear next. It is not an easy paint process to do.

Re spraying just small areas is difficult down to the correct procedure of respraying involves blending in the paint and lacquer on to the other panels without seeing an area. The aim is to achieve a finish like it has not been resprayed. This is the expertise’s of the painter and many years of experience.

Matching the paint by code does not necessarily work all the time as you have to factor in the rest of the car may be old and has gone through a number of seasons so it will impact on the paint colour. That is why we have a fantastic mixologist who can match the colour of the rest of the car so diminishing the probability of seeing that a car has been resprayed in a particular area.

The next area of concern was the engine. At our Yorkshire based Car restoration work shop we can tune any classic car. It is done by our specialist technician who tunes classic cars. Not only did we retune this classic Rolls Royce car, we also put new brakes ,oil and new servos. The suspension was inspected as there was a dip to one side. A new suspension arm was replaced and she was up back onto her wheels again in the correct position.A clean up of the engine bay and a re calibration and she was ready.

A full service was then required, and this beautiful old girl was back on her way back to Denmark.
