Porsche 924 S restoration

The restoration of this beautiful Porsche 924 was an absolute pleasure. 

The client wished to restore the Porsche to its original colour and replace the interior with black leather.

Strip the bodywork and all ancillaries.

First and foremost, we had to strip the car and bag and tag all the components that needed to be removed before we could start repainting it.

We stripped the paint back and could see any panels needing attention. This task took many hours, as we also had to take the interior out, catalogue each item, and photograph it to ensure it returned to the correct place.

Paint preparation and Re Spray

The paint was stripped back, and we could see any panels that needed attention. Welding was required in various areas before we applied the two-pack epoxy resin to help preserve the car panels.

Before applying primer, we needed to flatten and light-fill the Porsche. The primer was then applied and removed to attain the perfect shape.

Once we were happy with that and there were no high and low spots, a final layer of primer was applied, taken back, cleaned off, and ready for paint and lacquer.

Once the lacquer had dried, it was then time to knock it back and give it a polish.

Reassemble the car

The interior was part of the car that had to go after we recovered the seats. I think the black leather seats and trim make the car stand out better, and they are also slightly more comfortable to sit on.

As always, bagging and tagging the items are imperative, so putting the ancillaries back in the car was relatively straightforward.

It’s a fabulous classic car restoration.
